Showing Up in 2012

27 Dec

2011 was a mad, crazy year. I quit two corporate jobs, started this glorious business, got married and seriously simplified many aspects of my life.

Despite everything I have done this year, I can’t help but feel a bit blue about a few of the things I haven’t done this year, mainly because half of the things on this list are things I had wanted to do last year.  And the year before.  And the year before that.

Like remembering to send birthday cards and gifts in good time.  Like booking tickets for concerts and ballets and gigs in good time so I don’t wind up disappointed.  Like getting a few minor ailments sorted out so I can be rid of some daily irritation.

I don’t want to get to the end of 2012 with a whole heap of “I wish I’s…” which is why I’ve decided to give 2012 a theme. A theme is a great yardstick to check yourself against, keep you on track and help you manifest the things you want to achieve.  It’s going to be my anchor phrase every time I have a decision to make or a bout of procrastination to deal with.

Want to know what it is?

Showing Up.

That’s it.  2012 is going to be a year of me Showing Up in all aspects of my life. In my relationships, in my business, and in my health and well being.

Showing Up means bringing my a-game.  Being the best version of myself.  Leveraging my time and energy to the very best.  Showing up means committing wholeheartedly to the things in life that really matter to me and giving them the very best I can.

Inevitably, Showing Up will probably mean they’ll be things I stop doing, leave behind or give up.  At the moment I’m not entirely sure what all those things will be – I’ll be keeping my senses finely tuned, practising mindfulness and journaling about my reflections so I don’t miss a thing.

You can have a theme for the year too. It doesn’t need to be poetic or indulgent.  It just needs to mean something to you.  More importantly, it needs to reflect the way you intend to live your life for each of the 366 days of next year and encapsulate the way you want to feel when you look back over your shoulder at 2012 this time next year.

Need a little more inspiration? Dig deep into your reflections using the Handy Dandy Guide I gifted to you last week!

2012 is going to be an awesome year for you honey – I just know!

Lots of love
